One Cup of Cocoa
One Cup of Cocoa is a short point-and-click game about making a cocoa. And there is a being watching you, pressuring you to make the cocoa. But it should be ok, you know what you are doing. I mean... You do know how to make a hot chocolate, right? Of course you do. Surely.
Well you will do fine. Just maybe don't screw it up.
Like by making tea or something.

I, of course, recommend playing with a mouse (on a laptop/PC/Windows) and downloading the windows version, as the game was designed to be played with mouse. There might be some issues with web-versions zooming, but the full-screen button at the corner should help, or just zooming out in your browser.

There was some minor bugs left from the previous update, so I fixed them. Nothing major new, I did add new lines and fixed few old ones hopefully to have them be more clear :)
Anyways, still hopefully working as should and no new bugs introduced, I actually tried to do more throughout testing lol.

idk how but I think I glitched the game cus he started to say "I suppose" but then he didn't even finish the sentence before grabbing the gun and shooting me. JUSTICE FOR PURE MILK COCOA!
Woah, ok this is the first time I've heard/seen this bug, it almost sounds so funny that I'd entertain a possibility that the game has gained sentience and is out to get you lol. But ye, I will try and look into it, thanks for the info! And apologies for the injustice, for the record, we here at cocoa-game-association love and respect all kinds of cocoa, pure milk cocoa included, there should not be any shooting happening when pure cocoa is involved xD Justice for pure milk cocoa indeed.
I'd actually think that the game is out to get me bcuz of how many times i've fucked up his cocoa lol :D
I finally got it where the person ( I think the character is a guy) says my coca is pretty good ^^. I tried so many options and the just throwing it on the table is a nice feature. This is really fun :)

tbh i think its a woman, bc when it shoots u. u can see the shape of the body, wich is pretty female like, so yeah, idk.
Oh myyy I finally managed to get him to point the gun towards me! ;ppp Trying to get him satisfied now. Btw it seems like I cannot add Cardamom? I only found that we have this option in my third or fourth trial, thought that seasoning bottle was just decor before.

You can't add cardamom? I tested it just now myself too but for me it seems to work fine, it shows up and everything, but that is odd. I will check in code if I can catch some weirdness but do info if you continue to have problems with it.

I think the duuude coming in for his cocoa is pretty endearing, and kinda funny for getting so clammed up about a particular type of cocoa. 8/10.

Can one be satisfied when perfect cocoa is out there?
I played through (v 1.25) a couple of rounds and got the same response about everyone enjoying it differently. I had to come to the comments to realise there's more to the story. Not the dev's fault, it wasn't until the third try after reading the comments I actively tried to poke the bear.
I like the atmosphere and the idea itself. What I really find detracts though is the lack of animation of say the steam from the kettle, the spoon stirring, cocoa / milk etc. being poured. That'd really give it more depth. Also, more feedback / comments etc. from the figure would be great. Grunts, quips etc. to kind of hint to the player the sentiment.
Otherwise I enjoyed the idea. It's a great little game with a great premise. It feels human that you can be 'wrong', but that's just your preference. It's still acceptable... until it isn't...

Also no, it is my fault that the "ending" dialogues tend to be bit repetitive, but had to hammer in the point I suppose lol. Not liking cocoa is acceptable, but wasting food? Crime of highest degree.
the critic keeps saying that "the kettle went to waste" even though i used the water kettle, so i have no idea what their deal is.. other than that, incredible game!! loved it
Ah yeah, that line could, and should, be lot more clearer in the hindsight, as the trick is a bit too mean to the player. The line is meant to indicate that while you did use the kettle to get water, you never turned the kettle on, you know, to boil the water

Worry not, the true perfect cocoa is the friends we made along the way (you were actually really close, you just added sugar lol). But you have passed the cocoa test... Although you did make tea. I suppose at least you didn't waste cocoa. :)

which is just a fancy way of saying "It's a matter of taste really, I personally just boil water, add milk, add cocoa, and call it a day" lol.It would be funny if you made an ending where you made him wait to long by not stopping with the reset button and he trashes your cocoa shop and steals everything, great game though, i love the creativity

Hi, I can't download this game, so I wanted a game simulator (I think that's how you say it) so I could download it, since joiplya isn't working and the game file won't go, and I really wanted to download this game because I liked it
Oh no? I don't know much about game simulators so I am afraid I can't know why this game isn't working on them. I hope at least the web version works so you can play it even without downloading, but if you have certain operating system (Linux, Mac, iOS, Android etc.) let me know so I know to in the future include it as a possible downloadable version/make sure the game works on that device :)
My phone is Android, but is there a mobile version of the game? I couldn't find it in the download options here for the game 😔
Are you perhaps using the Itch.io Android app and not web browser on your android? If you are, you can try out the game by using your web browser to access this page, there you should see a button for "Run cocoa making simulator". That should hopefully work, but if it doesn't I think I need to start looking for a fix then!
Oh my days, I just randomly found this game while scrolling on itch, and i love it so much. also, for some reason i've developed an attatchment to the character, and i'd love if you added more content to the game. No pressure though, and i've seen your other games and i just think you're an amazing creator.

There has been lot of questions and interest in my cocoa critic here and I have been really feeling I should do something about it but inspiration has yet struck me. But tbh, I've been itching to add at least more content and better up the game's code for a while now, so very likely to happen ^^ Thank you for checking my other games too, means a lot to me genuinely.
Not fully sure how it happened, but i managed to click the "ready" button twice and it messed up the dialogue a ton, like make it backwards and repeating. Didn't break the game fully or nothing tho

Oh well, thanks for notifying me about this, I'm pretty sure I know why this broke and I will put it on the fix list for if I make another update to this \o/ For now, we can pretend that you made a cocoa so cocoa that even the cocoa critic could not speak properly lol.
quick question about the character do they have a canon name, race? if not i WILL be calling them "cocoa" until otherwise
I think they would love to be called Cocoa :D
But to answer to your questions; I've taken to calling them the "Critic" or Cocoa critic, they are canonically just an entity, so not really a human, just humanoid, who is really serious about cocoa. So they don't have super-official name or anything, just what is the vibe at the moment, though inside the game files I've called them "Dar" lol.

No not yet, my apologies, I don't have access to make a version for IPads as of now :(
Right now the game only has reliable Windows download and should work on most web browsers even on mobile devices. Though, I've not tested Safari and iOS devices, but if you happen to have another web browser available, the game might work even on IPad.
Sorry for the inconvenience for now, if I happen to update the game again, I will try and see if I can add more accessibility to wider amount of devices :)

There has been some interest in more content with this game and I've been thinking that maybe I should expand/make a better version or something of it since people do seem to be interested ^^
But I can't be sure yet, waiting to find a good idea for more while I work on my other projects.

It depends how long it has been since you last boiled the water. It's a high tech water kettle 👍 But I think the kettle won't boil longer than 40 seconds. It's also an automatic water kettle 😎👍

Is there any way to do it perfect for this person or no? Because I've just been trying random things. Also I would enjoy a full game and backstory on this person including this concept the person seems cool even if they don't like you wasting anything which is vaild.

There are different endings (3 to be specific), kinda. but there are multiple different reactions the person can give depending what you do. So yes, there is a way to make "the perfect cocoa", which I call the "pretty good" ending. But it's pretty similar to the neutral ending, as making the perfect cocoa is subjective to each person, so the good ending in this game is just how I personally make a good cocoa lol.
But thank you! I'm so glad to hear this and see such interest in this game ^^ I can't promise anything major expect small update to enable mobile version, but it sounds like a fun idea to expand this cocoa critic and their story.
